The group originally established in 1999 as part of BNI (Business Network International) with the formula working well in the first 12 months as the membership gradually increased. After this time, there was a group decision to 'go it alone' and break away from the constraints of BNI. After all, Dorking proudly does things differently. The rest, as is so frequently said is history.
Dorking Business Breakfast was born in 2000 (fact check?) and over 20 years later, still going strong. Some original founding members are part of the group to this day.
We have a simple rule of thumb for potential new members - If you offer a trade, profession or service not represented in the group you would be able to apply for membership. All joining requests are subject to group approval.
Being a member of our breakfast group is a cost-effective way of promoting your business to other members. All members will be expected to give a 10 minute talk about their business and what services they offer, it‘s a great way of letting others know what you do professionally. The talks are on a rotor basis and usually come around every 12 months or so.
We welcome guest speakers to talk at meetings on occasions, they may be charities, local business or anyone in need of an audience.
Or so the saying goes. We do like to let our hair down from time to time and mix in some out-of-meeting socialising. See our photo album.
